I would pick Seattle right on the Pacific. i have lived there my hole life i love going whale watching. Seattle is a great wonderful city. If your a teenager its probably not good to be in Vegas because it gets up to 110 degrees! Also has bad crime and to many drunk people from the casinos.

I moved to LV when my 2 younger daughters were teens- it was the worst move of my life….. of course, I wouldn’t have my grandchildren if we hadn’t moved, so what can I say?!
You’re pretty young to be a grandma though, so I’d pick Seattle! Too much gang activity, drugs, bad teachers and bored kids making trouble in Las Vegas. Good Luck!
PS. We finally moved away 7 years ago when my oldest grandson was ready to start kindergarten- we moved to TN near Nashville and everything has been fabulous ever since! All 3 of my daughters are great now, but LV was a definite low point!

That is an interesting question. Sounds like you have already lived in Las Vegas so you know what it’s all about.
I have spent a lot of time in both cities. Seattle has so many more opportunities to find housing. It’s sprawl everywhere. You can live as far south as Tacoma and as far North as Everett and still have pretty good access to EVERYTHING.
Vegas has Henderson, and the West Side.
I won’t talk about Climate. But I will talk about the way you feel.
I love Seattle because there are nearly limitless things to do. The Coast is a short trip if you want to see the Ocean. Of course there are lakes everywhere. You can Ski, or go to the mountains. I love the trees. Everything is green. There are professional sports teams (Missing in Vegas). Plenty of great places to eat (Excepting the South Areas – South of Renton by the Mall down to Des Moines is not good for Restaurants).
The Downtown area is well kept. I love the KIrkland Waterfront. There are Great Biking Trails.
There is only one real downside to Seattle – and that is the winter rains. And in the Winter it’s dark at 5pm and raining. But that is what keeps everything Green.
The cost of Housing in Seattle is HIGH!!! But if you get out of the more popular areas (Those upscale areas that have easier commutes) you should still be able to find a good place at an affordable price.
Neither Washington nor Nevada have a State Income Tax. State Sales Tax in Washington is 6.5% but the local Government add their own rates to that. So it’s pretty much a wash (no pun intended) Sales Tax wise. Grocery items you prepare yourself are not taxed in either place. Prepared foods in restaurants are taxed.
I believe Seattle is more culturally diverse than Vegas. Both are diverse but the “attitude” seems to be different in Seattle. Just my opinion.
I’m not really trying to sell one place over the other – but in my opinion life is more enjoyable in Seattle “if” you can tolerate all the rain in the winter.
Ideally you could live in Seattle From April to September, and Vegas in October to March. If only!!!
As far as your being a Single Parent – I believe you would have better chances of meeting Single Guys in Seattle. And obviously GREENERY is few and far between in Vegas.
And you may also want to Consider Portland Oregon. Cool city with a trendy “vibe”. Cool place for singles – lots of the benefits of Seattle.
